Kathryn Hansen

Kathryn Hansen is an Associate Editor at EARTH, where she reports on polar science, geotechnology, weather, natural hazards, geopolitics, and space and planetary geology.
Kathryn joined EARTH in August 2011 after a four-year stint at NASA, where she produced news stories and multimedia content about the agency’s Earth science research. Among other duties, she enjoyed working in the field with scientists in the Arctic Ocean, Greenland and Antarctica to communicate polar science. She holds degrees in Physics/Astronomy, science writing and video production. Kathryn got her start in journalism through an internship at Johns Hopkins Magazine followed by another internship and subsequent employment at EARTH’s previous identity, Geotimes.
