CORPORATE PRESIDENT, DOSECC
DOSECC, a not-for-profit corporation that provides scientific and logistical leadership to the continental scientific drilling community, is seeking a corporate President. DOSECC is an implementing organization for continental scientific drilling, headquartered in Salt Lake City, whose mission is to advise, plan, facilitate and execute drilling, subsurface sampling, and monitoring operations that pursue topics of scientific and societal importance.
The President’s duties include recognizing and utilizing opportunities in scientific drilling, providing support for scientific drilling proposals and operations, overseeing revenue generation, setting of business objectives, and supervising corporate offices, accounts, drillers, and equipment. Key objectives of the President are to foster and maintain (1) proactive and ongoing interaction with funding agencies (especially the National Science Foundation, other US government agencies and the International Continental Scientific Drilling Program), and (2) effective communication with stakeholders, including 53 corporate member institutions and the broader continental scientific drilling community.
The President also manages DES, a wholly owned for-profit subsidiary that supports DOSECC by providing equipment, trained scientific drilling teams, and operational support. Experience managing and administering multiple grants and contracts from government agencies is required. A Ph.D. in geosciences or geoengineering, and relevant business and/or academic executive management experience is desired. The successful candidate will provide imaginative leadership for the corporation as a facility of continental scientific drilling and for the broader continental scientific community at large.
